Question of The Day

I've being asked by a branch manager of a local bank about the physical gold purity. How can he can make sure he buy a pure and not a forge gold? A very good question asked by a "Unit Trust" people.

Yes, there are several ways to test the purity of gold (i had discussed in my old entry together with tutorial). So i will narrow it down and make it as a main point only.

How to test purity of gold?

  1. Use density meter (Precious Metal Tester GK-2000)
  2. Use Acid nitric (gold will not react to acid nitric)
  3. Use gold tester needle
  4. Use magnet (gold not attract to magnet)
  5. Use black stone (rub the gold on that stone, suppose the color of gold still remain)
  6. Use digital scale and put the gold into water (refer to previous entry)
  7. Go to pawn shop and ask them to test
  8. Gold to any gold shop and ask them to test
  9. Use gold tester machine at Public Gold office when you collect the item
  10. Refer to the gold manufacturer certificate
